Nigeria’s NNPC Dismisses Rumors of Fuel Price Adjustment

Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited has dispelled rumours circulating about a potential price adjustment for Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and Automotive Gas Oil (Diesel) at its retail stations nationwide.

In an official statement by Chief Corporate Communications Officer of NNPC Ltd., Olufemi Soneye, released on Wednesday, the state-owned oil corporation refuted the reports and urged Nigerians to disregard them.

Soneye reiterated the company’s unwavering commitment to maintaining the current sufficiency in petroleum products supply across all its retail stations throughout the country.

Soneye emphasized that NNPC Ltd. is dedicated to ensuring stable fuel prices and uninterrupted availability of fuel to meet the needs of consumers nationwide.

“The rumours regarding a possible price adjustment for PMS and Diesel are entirely false,” stated Soneye. “NNPC Ltd. assures the public that there are no plans to alter fuel prices at our retail stations. We urge Nigerians to ignore these baseless speculations and continue to rely on NNPC Ltd. for their fuel needs.”

The statement comes amidst growing concerns among Nigerians following the circulation of rumours suggesting an imminent fuel price hike. NNPC Ltd.’s swift clarification aims to allay any apprehensions and reaffirm its commitment to providing affordable and accessible fuel to consumers across the country.

NNPC Ltd. remains a key player in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector, responsible for the exploration, production, refining, and distribution of petroleum products.
