Niger, Mali Partner to Boost Diesel Supply

In a bid to fortify its energy security, Niger has signed a groundbreaking deal with Mali. The agreement entails the provision of 150 million litres of diesel to Mali’s state energy firm, Énergie du Mali, at a substantial discount.

This move is poised to significantly alleviate Mali’s power woes while fostering socio-economic growth within the nation.

A statement released regarding the pact emphasized the pivotal role this diesel supply will play in ensuring stable and dependable electricity production in Mali. Such reliability is paramount for Mali’s continued development on various fronts.

Nigerian Govt Blames Persistent Power Outages on Sabotage

This agreement marks a milestone in the collaborative efforts between Niger and Mali to bolster regional energy integration. Mali has long grappled with power shortages, making this alliance a beacon of hope for its energy stability.

Moreover, the timing of this deal coincides with Niger’s ambitious plans to ramp up its oil production to 110,000 barrels per day (bpd), earmarking a substantial portion—90,000 bpd—for exports. This signals not only Niger’s commitment to regional energy cooperation but also its aspirations for economic advancement through the oil sector.
