Netherland seeks increased gas supply from Nigeria

 

The Netherlands has sort for Nigerias help for possible increase in gas supply. This information was made known to the general public in an official statement by the NMDPRA on Tuesday 12th April, 2022.

It said, the request was made by a team from the Netherlands led by the Counsellor/Deputy Head of Mission, Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Nigeria Mr Ewout de Wit on a visit to the Nigeria Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA).

Furthermore, Mr Ewout also sort for exploration of the prospects of adopting a standard specification for imports of refined petroleum products from the Netherlands into Nigeria and other areas of collaboration in the petroleum value chain between the two countries.

The host team at the NMDPRA was led the Chief Executive Offcier, Engr. Farouk Ahmed who welcomed the approach of the Netherlands and assured of Nigerias readiness and collaboration on mutually beneficial engagements.

The timing of this request cannot be far from the Russia-Ukraine crisis as most of Europe which is dependent on Russian gas is left to scout for other alternatives of supply owing to sanctions from the Europe and America and conditions of purchase from Vladmir Putin.
