Genser Unveils 110km Gas Pipeline to Boost Ghana’s Power Sector

Genser Energy, a diversified energy company, has officially inaugurated a 110km natural gas pipeline aimed at bolstering Ghana’s power sector and driving economic growth.

The inauguration ceremony, held on April 17, saw the presence of Ghanaian President H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Minister of Energy Matthew Opoku Prempeh.

Known as the Anwomaso Gas Pipeline, the project is designed to transport natural gas from western Ghana to power the 250 MW Kumasi 1 Thermal Power Plant. This initiative aims to ensure energy security and affordability in the Ashanti region and northern Ghana.

“The Ashanti region is renowned for the development of small and medium-scale commercial and industrial enterprises. With enhanced electricity supply, these enterprises will expand and offer further employment opportunities to our youth,” President Akufo-Addo emphasized.

Once fully operational, the pipeline will become an integral part of a broader network spanning 420 km. This network will provide a reliable natural gas supply to various gas-to-power projects, including the 500 MW AKSA and 330 MW CENIT facilities.
