The United Nations has halted aid deliveries to Gaza and issued a stark warning about the escalating risk of widespread starvation after the besieged enclave experienced a collapse in internet and telephone services due to a severe fuel shortage.
The UN’s move comes as Israel’s War Cabinet agrees to allow only two tanker trucks of fuel into Gaza daily, a quantity deemed “very minimal” by Israel’s national security adviser, according to Aljazeera.
The ongoing communications blackout, now in its second day, has isolated Gaza’s 2.3 million residents from each other and the outside world, exacerbating the challenges of delivering humanitarian aid amid the fuel crisis.
