Tanzania has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Indonesia’s ESSA Industries to develop a $1.2 billion fertilizer manufacturing plant.
The collaboration, involving the Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation, Fertilizer Regulatory Authority, and Tanzania Investment Center, aims to bolster Tanzania’s agriculture and natural gas sectors.
The plant will produce one million tons of urea annually, consume 70 million cubic feet of gas daily, and create approximately 389,000 jobs.
Full operations are expected by 2029, marking a significant stride in Tanzania’s industrial and agricultural development.
