OPEC holds its 9th Technical Meeting on Asian Energy and Oil Outlook

The Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) held its 9th technical meeting on Asian Energy and Oil Outlook in Vienna, on Tuesday. The first session of the meeting was an indepth exploration of the oil and energy market, with a focus on the Asian perspective. While the second session was a thorough look into hydrogen developments in Asia.

The workshop had in attendance speakers from India, Japan, China, Korea as well as experts from the global energy community. In his speech, H.E Haitham Al Ghais, Secretary General of OPEC, highlighted the strategic importance of Asia for OPEC. As OPEC member countries will continue to be a reliable support for Asia’s growing energy needs soon.

According to Japan’s view on the world energy future, global energy demand continues to grow with the current development reaching 1.2 times the current level by 2050. As stated by Dr Ken Koyama IEEJ.

Dr Pankaj Sharma of Petrol Planning and Analysis Cell (PPAC), Ministry of Petrol and Natural Gas India, said that ” energy outlooks are critical in planning global energy future. OPEC world oil outlook is a major and key outlook that provides very clear and grounded numbers considering realities of energy systems. It gives clear direction for energy and oil demand in general”.
