The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited is set to collaborate with the U.S. Grains Council to enhance ethanol production, according to an official statement from the company’s X (formerly Twitter) account.
NNPC Ltd’s Group CEO, Mele Kyari, hosted the U.S. Grains Council in Abuja to explore collaboration in boosting Nigeria’s ethanol production in line with sustainability principles.
The NNPC team was led by the Executive Vice President, Downstream, Dapo Segun (who represented the Group Chief Executive Officer), while the U.S delegation was led by the President/ CEO of the U.S Grains Council, Ryan LeGrand.
Ethanol, an alternative fuel, is derived from cellulosic feedstocks like crop residues and wood. The partnership aligns with Nigeria’s commitment to local production and export, contributing to the country’s economic growth.
Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Heineken Lokpobiri, expressed optimism about the partnership, emphasizing its alignment with Nigeria’s objectives in a statement posted via the minister’s X handle.
