On Wednesday, a Strategic Security Stakeholders’ Meeting was held at the Six Division Army Headquarters in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The meeting involved the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, the Security Heads of Operation Delta Safe in the Niger Delta, the Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited, Mr. Mele Kyari and key stakeholders in the nation’s oil and gas industry.
In a statement published on NNPC’s official X handle, Kyari assured Nigerians that the issues of oil theft and vandalism of critical hydrocarbon infrastructure in the Niger Delta, which have significantly impacted the nation’s crude oil production, will soon be addressed.
Kyari emphasized that all security agencies have now agreed to collaborate effectively to eliminate oil theft, following President Bola Tinubu’s directive to increase oil production, grow reserves, and enhance revenue generation.
The meeting was attended by several key figures, including Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil); Chief Pius Akinyelure, Board Chairman of NNPC Ltd.; and Mr. Farouk Ahmed, Chief Executive of the Nigerian Midstream & Downstream Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA).
