Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPC Ltd.) and Morocco’s Office National des Hydrocarbures et des Mines (ONHYM) have intensified discussions to accelerate the development of a natural gas pipeline project.
Revealed in a statement from the company’s official X handle, the meeting, held on the sidelines of an engagement between Nigeria’s Honourable Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo, and the Honourable Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development of Morocco, H.E. Ms. Leila Benali in Rabat, aimed to expedite activities leading to the Final Investment Decision (FID).
Led by DG ONHYM, Mme. Amina Benkhadra, and NNPC Ltd.’s EVP for Gas, Power, and New Energy, Mr. Olalekan Ogunleye, the discussions focused on several key areas. These include Gas Supply, Front End Engineering Design (FEED), Survey, Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA), and project cost optimization.
The collaboration aims to achieve FID promptly and initiate the execution phase of the project, reinforcing the commitment of both nations to advancing energy infrastructure.
