The transmission company of Nigeria, (TCN), has announced a gradual drop in power generation into the grid due to gas constraints to the thermal generating companies.
General Manager, Public Affairs in the firm Ndidi Mbah, disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday. Mbah further revealed that this has impacted the quantum of bulk power available on the transmission grid for onward transmission to the distribution load centres nationwide.
The statement reads, ‘’The Transmission Company of Nigeria TCN hereby announces that there has been a gradual decrease in an available generation into the grid due to gas constraints to the thermal generating companies, which has impacted the quantum of bulk power available on the transmission grid for onward transmission to the distribution load centres nationwide.
‘’TCN is doing everything possible in collaboration with stakeholders in the power sector to ensure that it continues to keep the grid intact despite the current low power generated into the system.’’
The company further stated that it can only transmit what is been generated, as power distributed to the distribution load centres has reduced.
Mbah in the statement however assured of the company’s commitment to ensuring an increase in electricity supply to load centres as gas improves.
She pleaded with the public to bear with the company, as efforts are been put in place to work with stakeholders, to ensure that electricity supply improves nationwide.
