Nigeria: NASSI, Glodanif Energy Sign Deal to Deliver Reliable Power

The National Association of Small-Scale Industrialists (NASSI) in Nigeria and Glodanif Energy Limited (GEL) have entered a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to ensure reliable and affordable electricity for NASSI members located near industrial sites nationwide.

Dr. Solomon Vongfa, President of NASSI, highlighted the necessity of enhancing power supply to small-scale industrialists using green energy. He described the partnership as a private sector initiative aimed at addressing the power challenges faced by NASSI members.

Mr. Ayodele Olaitan, CEO of Glodanif Energy, explained that the scheme aims to promote industrial and local production processes through affordable renewable energy. He acknowledged the prevalent self-generation of power due to the unreliability of the national grid and emphasized the need to reduce reliance on fossil fuels for environmental protection.

The initiative seeks to provide clean and affordable energy to small and medium-scale industries through a cluster arrangement. Olaitan stressed the detrimental effects of inadequate power supply on businesses and highlighted the partnership’s goal of providing a solution through the Green Industrialization Initiative.

The tariff structure of the scheme will be based on cost-reflective principles with full adoption of the prepaid metering system, aligning with regulations set by the National Electricity Regulation Commission (NERC) for captive and embedded Independent Power Producers (IPP) operations.
