Nigeria’s Minister of State Petroleum Resources (Gas), Mr. Ekperikpe Ekpo has assured of uninterrupted gas supply to the Nigeria – Morocco gas pipeline project. He further assured that Nigeria’s president us passionate and committed to the success of the project.
“His Excellency, President Bola Tinubu is passionate about this initiative and will do everything possible to ensure that we get to the end of it; it is a long-term project, but it will succeed. My assurance to you and the people of Morocco is that gas will not be a problem as far as Nigeria is concerned.” He said.
The minister, who led a delegation from Nigeria to Rabat, Morocco met with the country’s Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, Ms. Leila Benali and other officials involved in the project.
Nigeria currently has 209 trillion cubic feet proven gas reserves and potential reserves increase opportunity to 600trillion cubic feet, Expo explained.
Ekpo, further re-emphasized Nigeria’s commitment to playing a key role in marketing the product within African and the European Union.
On her part, the Moroccan energy minister, Leila Benali, acknowledged Nigeria’s support in the monetization of gas in Africa. She further reiterated the significance of the project to the development of both countries, and the African continent at large.
The two countries met to advance the Nigeria Morocco gas pipeline project, which was first signed in 2017.
