The Kaduna Electric, with the directive from the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), has on Thursday released a list of over 49,000 customers who were over-billed and subsequently refunded.
Energy Afrique had earlier reported that Kaduna Electric complied with the directive from the NERC to reimburse customers who were over-billed.
NERC’s Capping Order mandates distribution companies (DisCos) to ensure that unmetered customers are not billed excessively.

The order aims to align estimated bills for unmetered customers with the measured consumption of metered customers on the same supply feeder.
Kaduna Electric, in compliance with NERC’s directive, has completed credit adjustments for affected customers based on NERC’s assessment report.
These adjustments will reflect on the customers’ February 2024 bills, addressing overbilling from January to September 2023.
