Kaduna Electric, one of the power distribution companies in Nigeria, officially declared a 10% salary increase for all staff categories, effective February 2024.
Dr. Umar Hashidu, the Chief Executive Officer, announced during a recent meeting with the management team.
The decision to increase salaries is part of the company’s strategic efforts to motivate its workforce and enhance overall performance, particularly amidst the current challenges.
Dr. Hashidu emphasized that the adjustment also aims to address the country’s prevalent cost of living crisis.
He reiterated the conviction that the salary increment would inspire employees to redouble their efforts in navigating the company through its present challenges.

Furthermore, Dr. Hashidu hinted that the salary adjustment is just one component of a broader initiative aimed at improving staff welfare and performance.
He described the challenges faced by the firm as critical. Despite facing obstacles in meeting market obligations and compliance with NERC performance indices, Dr. Hashidu expressed confidence in Kaduna Electric’s ability to overcome these challenges through collective effort.
The Executive Director cited positive growth in energy sales observed in January as a promising sign of progress. He urged employees to sustain this momentum until the company achieves a complete turnaround.
