Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed disappointment over Nigeria’s electricity generation capacity of 4.5GW, given the country’s size.
Speaking at the inauguration of a 31-member Presidential Economic Coordination Council at the Council Chamber in the Presidential Villa, Abuja, Tinubu emphasized the urgency of addressing Nigeria’s economic challenges through innovative solutions.
He said “We face significant energy security issues in Nigeria, we need to enhance our oil and gas sector and boost electricity generation and distribution nationwide.
“With your cooperation, collaboration, and recommendations, we are committed to achieving this. It is a national embarrassment that we are still generating only 4.5GW of electricity.
“We aim to increase our oil production to 2 million barrels per day within the next few months and are determined to eliminate barriers to investment in the energy sector while enhancing competitiveness.”
