For the first time since the Israel-Hamas war began last October, the Israeli military has deployed fighter jets to strike Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen.
This escalation follows an unprecedented incident where the rebels breached Tel Aviv airspace with a kamikaze drone on Friday, resulting in the death of one civilian.
OilPrice.com quoted Houthi official Mohammed Abdulsalam describing the event on social media as a “brutal Israeli aggression against Yemen.”
He reported that the airstrikes targeted “fuel storage facilities and a power plant” in the Yemeni port of Hodeida, suggesting that the attacks were intended to pressure Yemen into ceasing its support for Palestinians in the Gaza conflict.
