Germany, Morocco Sign Hydrogen and Renewables Pact

Germany and Morocco signed an alliance on Friday in Berlin to enhance cooperation in renewable energy and hydrogen production. Germany’s Development and Economy Ministries highlighted Morocco’s favorable conditions for solar and wind energy and green hydrogen production.

Development Minister Svenja Schulze emphasized Morocco’s potential to become a key hydrogen exporter to Germany. The partnership aims for equitable benefits for Morocco and encourages German technological participation.

Morocco, aiming for 52% renewable electricity by 2030, has allocated 1 million hectares for green hydrogen projects. The Noor Ouarzazate Solar Complex exemplifies Morocco’s renewable energy capabilities. Germany seeks to expedite hydrogen infrastructure development.

Morocco, with abundant sunlight and strategic EU proximity, has become a solar power leader, aspiring to support Europe’s ambitious clean energy goals, OilPrice.com reported on Friday. The Noor Ouarzazate Solar Complex, with over 500 megawatts capacity, highlights its renewable energy achievements.

Germany plans to fast-track hydrogen project approvals, promoting swift progress in hydrogen production, storage, and transportation. This partnership positions Morocco and Germany at the forefront of the global green energy transition, with mutual benefits in the clean energy supply chain.
