The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) confirmed a minor fire incident at the Warri Refinery and Petrochemical Company Limited on Friday.
According to The Guardian, the company swiftly contained the fire, emphasizing that the ongoing rehabilitation efforts at the refinery remain unaffected.
The incident, caused by welding activity at the cooling tower, occurred at approximately 15:02hrs but was swiftly dealt with by NNPC Limited safety officers.
Normalcy was restored by 15:30hrs. The NNPCL assured that this incident would not disrupt the refinery rehabilitation project’s delivery schedule.
The national oil firm affirmed its commitment to maintaining the highest safety standards in all its business operations. NNPC Limited oversees Nigeria’s refineries in Warri, Port Harcourt, and Kaduna, all currently undergoing rehabilitation processes.
