The Dangote Group has denied reports claiming that it has set the pump price of petrol at ₦600 per liter for sale to marketers nationwide.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the group’s spokesperson, Anthony Chiejina, dismissed the speculation, which was initially reported by a national daily.
Energy Afrique notes that a media outlet reported on Tuesday that marketers predict the Dangote Refinery will sell Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) at ₦600 per liter.
The report indicated that the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) expressed confidence that the Dangote Refinery would reduce petrol prices, much like it has impacted diesel prices.
The refinery clarified that the rumors are unfounded and do not represent the refinery’s official position.
The statement also addressed claims made by the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), which reportedly expressed confidence that the Dangote Refinery would lower petrol prices similarly to its impact on diesel prices.
Chiejina emphasized that IPMAN is not affiliated with the refinery and has no authority to speculate on fuel prices. He urged the public to disregard such speculative reports, noting that the refinery has not discussed Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) pricing with IPMAN and will continue to communicate with stakeholders through official channels.
