In a decisive move, President Bola Tinubu has reappointed Malam Mele Kyari as the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), effective from December 1, 2023. The announcement, conveyed by Presidential spokesman Ajuri Ngelale on Monday, also unveiled the newly appointed management team of the corporation.
Chief Pius Akinyelure secures the position of Non-Executive Board Chairman, in line with the provisions of Section 59 (2) of the Petroleum Industry Act, 2021. The comprehensive list of appointments includes Alhaji Umar Isa Ajiya as Chief Financial Officer and Mr. Ledum Mitee, Mr. Musa Tumsa, Mr. Ghali Muhammad, Prof. Mustapha Aliyu, Mr. David Ogbodo, and Ms. Eunice Thomas as Non-Executive Directors.
This strategic restructuring aligns with President Tinubu’s commitment to steering the NNPCL towards enhanced efficiency and effectiveness, as stipulated in the Petroleum Industry Act. The appointments come into effect on Friday, December 1, 2023, signifying a pivotal moment in the leadership and direction of Nigeria’s national petroleum entity.
