Axxela Limited, has signed letter of commitment to join the United Nations global compact, to enhancing sustainability, commitment to socially responsible living and positive impact on the world.
The UN Global Compact, is aimed at encouraging companies to actively take part in achieving the UN’s objective and initiatives contained in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It urges companies to harmonize their plans and activities with 10 universally accepted principles, relating to human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption.
Axxela’s Chief Executive Officer, Bolaji Osunsanya, while speaking at the signing of the commitment, said he is satisfied with his company joining the compact, describing it as a sign of the company’s commitment to maintaining the ethical business it has always upheld.
“As a participant of the initiative, Axxela is committed to the 10 principles of UN Global Compact and we will continue to ensure that the thematic areas remain a key part of our strategy in order to improve our sustainability story,” he said.
Board member of UN Global Impact Network Nigeria, Ayotola Jagun, said that the UN Global Compact which was lunched in 2000, is the largest corporate sustainability initiative in the world, With than 15,000 companies and 3,000 non-business signatories based in over 160 countries and more than 70 local networks.
She described Axxela’s joining of the Compact as commendable, as the company has been a major contributor to sustainability.
