Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano Gas Pipeline Project  to be delivered by December 2024

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has confirmed that the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) Gas Pipeline Project, currently at 80% completion, will be operational by December 2024. The announcement was made by NNPCL’s Chief Executive Officer, Mele Kyari, during an inspection tour of the project’s segment two, specifically the accomplished Hadejia River Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) carried out by contractor BRENTEXCCP Limited.

Kyari, represented by NNPC’s Executive Vice President of Gas Power and New Energy, Olalekan Ogunleye, lauded the project team for their exceptional safety record, citing 7.2 million man hours without any time loss or injuries. He emphasized the importance of maintaining safety standards and urged continued collaboration and teamwork for effective project delivery.

“This project is aligned and will be delivered by the end of next year, before December 31, 2024, when the president and the Group CEO of the NNPC would be commissioning the project. This is the commitment to the people of Nigeria,” stated Kyari.

The contractor for segment two, Executive Vice Chairman of BRENTEXCCP Limited, Sani Abubakar, assured that all necessary resources were in place and on schedule to meet the project’s deadline, reports by Dailytrust.

The AKK gas pipeline and stations project, described as a flagship initiative, holds strategic importance in enhancing the integration of Nigeria’s northern region with the Niger Delta and other parts of the country. The timely completion of this project is anticipated to significantly contribute to the nation’s economic growth and energy stability.
